Lively Places in Paris

By lively I mean, where there are continuous array of cafés/bars/restaurants; where you can continuously hear the sound of people laughing and talking in the terrace of the bars.

Mostly these are lively places by late evening. If you go there during the day or very early in the evening you might be disappointed. Also summer evening are more lively than other seasons.

  • Rue de Lappe – pubs, bars all along the street. Party area!
  • Rue Oberkampf, Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud (eastern end of these streets)
  • Rue des Lombards – many lively (jazz) music bars and restaurants
  • Rue de Montorgueil – many lively bars in this street and in the neighboring streets
  • Rue de Bucci – street full of bars and restaurants
  • Part of Boulevard Poissonnière (near metro Grands Boulevards)
  • Streets that are immediately surrounding Jardin du Palais Royal
  • Rue des Rosiers – fallafel street (best ones are closed on Friday evening and Saturday – Sabbath)
  • Part of Rue des Archives (near restaurant Le Ju’)
  • Place Larue – small but good place in the heart of Latin Quarter – close to Pantheon
  • Cour des Petites Écuries (small place – bars here shuts down early during the night)
  • Rue Léon Frot – a part of this street is lively
  • Canal Saint Martin – young people bring drinks and sit on both sides of the canal (only during the summer evening). The canal is long, most lively between Rue Léon Jouhaux and Rue de Lancry. Nearest metro station is Jacques Bonsergent on Line 5.
